What is the method to reduce the risks hidden in the workplace?

What is risk assessment?

Risk assessment is the process of identifying potential dangers at a construction site and preventing them from occurring. Until now, the focus has been to investigate the causes and develop countermeasures each time an industrial accident occurs, but the working environment is undergoing drastic changes such as the aging of workers and the increase in the number of unskilled workers. Therefore, it is necessary to consider changes in the field, anticipate new risks that may occur, estimate the risks, and prioritize risk reduction measures starting with those with the highest risk.

Basic steps of risk assessment

1. Identifying dangers
Identify potential hazards on the job before performing field work.

2. Calculate the risk of hazardous items
Estimate the risk for each identified hazard.

3. Implement measures starting from the highest priority
We examine the risk calculation results and take measures starting with those with the highest risk.

4. Reduce risk to acceptable levels
Repeated implementation and verification of risk mitigation measures to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
