Why are SDGs an essential issue for the construction industry?

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), adopted at the United Nations Summit in 2015, consist of 17 goals and 169 targets. Its preamble expresses a strong commitment to rapidly transitioning to a sustainable world, and pledges to leave no one behind in doing so. In addition, among the 17 goals of the SDGs, Goal 11, "Creating cities that are sustainable to live in," and Goal 12, "Responsible production and consumption," are particularly important when it comes to developing cities, building infrastructure, and improving the living environment. It can be said that this is an essential issue for the construction industry, which is directly involved in the construction industry.
Furthermore, there is an increasing tendency among corporate clients to select developers who actively work on SDGs. SDGs are closely related to ESG (Environmental, Social, Corporate Governance) investment. Seriously addressing the SDGs will improve the sustainability of society and businesses, and will ultimately lead to attracting ESG investment, which provides stable funding. The SDGs are not just an issue for one company, but a major challenge for business partners, customers, and industries to come together to realize a sustainable world.
Our construction equipment rental business also contributes to site safety by actively reusing construction equipment made from limited resources, rather than letting them sit in warehouses, and by properly maintaining them to extend their lifespan. As a member of the construction industry, we believe that we have an important mission to fulfill Goal 11, ``Responsible Production and Responsible Use.''
